| Miss Carden developed her distincitve curriculum during the fifteen
years that she operated her own laboratory school in New York City.
She understood thoroughly the academic subjects, and her clear, organized
intellect allowed her to devise a unique approach to education.
Not only did
she create an exceptional academic program, but she also incorporated character development into every aspect of learning. With Miss Carden as the sole author of the curriculum, the various subjects are interrelated and logically presented. Her careful sequencing of the materials and the continuity from grade to grade greatly enhance learning.
The foundation of the Carden Method lies in the curriculum core subjects: reading, grammar, spelling, and mathematics. The curriculum also includes the classics of literature, composition, history, science, and
geography. Balance and enrichment are provided daily by our special
subjects: French, music, art, and physical education. A comprehensive
computer program is also offered in grades 6-8, where the lessons are
specifically tailored to the various academic subjects. The end product of
a Carden education is a well-rounded individual with a command of both
